Invisalign in Fulham: six ways to guarantee transformative results

Did you know we offer Invisalign in Fulham? This innovative clear aligner system has the power to straighten misaligned smiles efficiently, effectively, and discreetly.

Like most dental treatments, Invisalign doesn’t do all the work itself! It requires a certain amount of dedication to ensure everything runs smoothly, such as changing your aligners regularly and wearing your Invisalign retainers as per our instructions.

Here are our top five tips to help you get the smile of your dreams with orthodontics in Fulham:

1. Visit us for a consultation

We suggest you take this first step, as you should always be as informed as possible before any treatment.

At this stage, we will use our digital 3D scanner to take impressions of your smile. You can see a simulation of your smile before proceeding with treatment to help you decide once and for all whether it’s the right choice for you!

We will also talk you through all of the ins and outs of Invisalign in Fulham, including estimated treatment times, costs, and some instructions that you’ll need to follow during your treatment. Listening carefully to these will allow your Invisalign aligners to work their magic properly.

2. Change your aligners regularly

When you begin your Invisalign treatment, you’ll receive roughly 20-30 different sets of aligners. These are all shaped slightly differently to help guide your misaligned teeth towards their new position, as outlined in your treatment plan.

Throughout your treatment, you will change each set of aligners every two weeks or as advised by your dentist.

You will need to visit us every four to six weeks to guide this process and check how your Invisalign results are shaping up.

3. Wear your aligners for at least 22 hours per day

You must wear your aligners for at least 22 hours per day. They are removable, unlike traditional metal braces, which means you can take them off to eat, drink, brush, and floss.

Whilst this is an incredible benefit, you should use it wisely and sparingly. Wearing your aligners for too little time can result in poor treatment outcomes.

4. Keep your aligners safe and clean

Your aligners live in your mouth, so you’ll want to ensure they’re kept safe and clean during your treatment. We will give you a plastic case to store your aligners when you take them out to eat or drink.

As time goes on, you might start forgetting to store them properly - but leaving them lying around can cause bacteria build-up and risk damaging or warping the plastic, so be sure to keep them in their case at all times.

The same goes for your Invisalign retainers - when you take them out, remember to put them safely back inside their container to avoid getting them dirty or gathering dust.

Clean your aligners and retainers whenever you get the chance - but remember to avoid whitening toothpaste or boiling water, as they can cause them to warp or break.

5. Don’t drink or eat whilst wearing your aligners

The only drink you can safely whilst wearing your aligners is water. Consuming hot drinks will damage the SmartTrack plastic - plus, strong-coloured drinks like coffee or red wine can stain them.

Invisalign isn’t designed to be worn whilst eating, so attempting to chew could cause damage to your teeth and aligners. Instead, take them out and store them safely in their case.

6. Wear your Invisalign retainers consistently

Once your treatment is over, we will provide you with Invisalign retainers to minimise the risk of your teeth relapsing to their misaligned position.

You should wear these for around 12 to 22 hours per day, every day, for six months (or until your dentist tells you otherwise). After this time, wearing them whilst you sleep should be enough to maintain your Invisalign results.
